The Head of Commercial & Industrial (“C&I”) Lending is responsible for managing a team of commercial lenders and related support staff, providing guidance to the C&I Lending Team, and acting as a conduit with the Bank’s executive management. The primary role of the C&I Lending Team is working towards the acquisition of new clients while retaining and further developing profitable relationships within the Bank’s C&I loan portfolio.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Responsible for motivating and directing the C&I Lending Team toward revenue-generating sales opportunities, customer satisfaction, and goal achievement. 
  • Cultivate long-term relationships with clients and outside professional centers of influence by developing positive Bank recognition by attending and coordinating networking events and functions. 
  • Maintain and develop Bank’s existing C&I portfolio by assessing and meeting client’s needs and from referral sources.
  • Strong ability to work with Bank’s credit team to accurately represent opportunities, and ultimately negotiated proper loan structures.
  • Anticipate and deliver on client needs through advanced product and industry knowledge, technical expertise, and strong transaction execution skills. 
  • Maintain comprehensive understanding of current C&I products offered in the banking industry.
  • Resolve non-routine and complex problems with specialized knowledge and independent action.
  • Demonstrate considerable judgment and authority to act.
  • Individual contributor.
  • Supervise workflow of the C&I Lending Team.
  • Accountable for content and quality of the C&I Lending’s Team’s work product by working closely with loan officers and analysts on their successful and timely completion of all tasks.
  • Responsible for understanding the impact of C&I lending on the Bank’s goals.
  • Meet and exceed annual lending goals set forth by the Bank. 
  • Verify quality, completeness, and accuracy of supporting loan documentation and analysis while ensuring loans comply with the Bank’s lending policy and regulatory requirements and procedures (State and Federal). 
  • Maintain properly documented files and manage renewals and collection efforts on past due and defaulted loans.
  • Maintain accurate department records and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Assist in various special projects as assigned.
  • Flexible schedule - must participate in Bank events during and after hours. 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 5+ years of commercial lending experience preferred.
  • Master’s degree in business, finance, or accounting preferred.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and statistical skills.
  • Sound knowledge of credit risk, accounting principles, financial statements, and tax returns.
  • Strong understanding of the banking industry and the regulatory requirements associated with it.
  • Excellent decision making / problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced writing and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office products and lending programs.
  • Proven track record of relationship/portfolio management as well as loan origination.
