This position is responsible for leading the bank’s business risk and controls functions within the first line of defense, which includes business continuity, vendor management, fraud, and financial crimes. This role will be instrumental in developing formal risk and controls methodologies appropriate for a high-performing community bank that has a strong emphasis on commercial lending.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Manage a team of specialists in the areas of financial crimes, fraud, business continuity, vendor management, and issues management
  • Oversee development of a formal risk and controls self-assessment program, as well as formalized controls testing and issues management within the first line of defense
  • Oversee implementation of appropriate technology for risk and controls functions
  • Lead identification of issue root causes, partnering with control and process owners to recommend comprehensive corrective actions and improvements to remedy issues that arise
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Understanding of inherent risk and control environments within banking
  • Strong understanding of laws, rules and regulations applicable to the banking industry
  • Strong execution skills and ability to work collaboratively with people at all levels of the bank
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and writing skills
  • Experience managing a high achieving team
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook
  • 10+ years’ relevant professional experience, preferably with an operational risk focus
  • Baccalaureate or equivalent required; masters or equivalent preferred
*This role will require the individual to be onsite full time in Woburn, MA.
